- Some people do not like canned laughter- find it outdated
- You shouldn't include jokes only certain people will get (in-jokes)
- Jokes need to me modern, not outdated

- There should be a mix of characters
- Mis-matched characters are seen as quite funny
- People like sitcoms they can relate to
- People like sitcoms that face controversial and egdy issues (e.g. the inbetweeners)
- Lots of sitcoms are based around groups of friends
- People don't like unrealistic sitcoms
- Loss of bad language is deemed as 'cheap laughs'
