For primary audience research I created a poll and a survey. My poll was based on the contents of actual sitcom programmes, whereas my survey was based on websites for sitcoms. The results of my poll show that people prefer sitcoms to be based around groups of friends over anything else. The second most popular was sitcoms based around school/college/uni/work. I also found out that people prefer sitcoms to be based around characters rather than visuals. Therefore, when creating our own sitcom, we will most likely create a show focused around friends in college, school or uni so that we satisfy our audience's wants.
My survey results show that on a website, people prefer to see videos, behind the scenes footage and information on characters the most. People visit websites the most in order to watch video footage. Therefore, when we create our website, we must ensure that we include videos and information on characters in order to create a website that the audience will like. In the survey, I also asked people what they liked and disliked the most about The Inbetweeners website. Now we know what to include and what not to include in our own website.

Georgie also conducted a survey for part of her primary audience research. Her survey focused on what people like and dislike about sitcoms. She also asked the audience what they would like to see in a new sitcom. She found out that the most popular stereotypes are 'the joker' and 'the geek' and that most people prefer a mixed gender cast. Therefore, in our own sitcom we will use these ideas so that we give the target audience what they want

Sam and Charlotte both conducted a focus group in order to find out what our target audience likes about a sitcom. They found that people are attracted to sitcoms because of the humour and their favourite sitcom is 'The Big Bang Theory'. They also found out a lot about characters. They found that characters appeal to people most in a sitcom and that weird/geeky characters are our audience's favourite type of character. Therefore, in our own sitcom we will focus mainly on our characters and use the character types that we know our audience will like
